Welcome to the Bede Community - a growing group of people based in Jarrow who want to enable a conversation about community and its future direction in this place. We originate from the Parish of Jarrow and are inspired by the 1329 years ( so far!) of Christian community here, which began in AD681 with the founding of the St Paul's house of the twin Monastery of Wearmouth-Jarrow, to be nominated for World Heritage Site status by the UK government at the beginning of 2011.
